On the tile display for Tikal, in the centre of each hex is a black square where the temple/treasure image would be. Also the stones showing movement between hexes are in black rectangles. This only happens on one of the two computers I use to view the site on (unfortunately the one I use more often), on the other machine it all appears fine (in fact the graphics look very good!). The main difference between the two computers that might be relevant is the resolution - 1680x1050. I've taken a screenshot of what it looks like to me, and can email it if it would help in fixing the problem - I hope you can, as I am looking forward to lots of games of Tikal.

I am thinking it has to do with your browser not the resolution. What browser are you using on the bad machine. _________________ ---------------

IE doesn't handle PNGs natively, so we have had to use a "fix" to work around that. There is a new version of IE that is in beta where they finally handle pngs and standard css and that is probably what is causing this for you. I can't get it to reproduce on my end, so I am not 100% sure. I have tested that resolution in IE, Firefox, and Opera. All of them appear to be fine. If you can try to login via firefox or the beta IE let me know if that solves it. _________________ ---------------

Like sa266, I'm also having problems viewing the Tikal boards. The middle of the screen is completely empty except for some numbers, e.g. 1, 2 and 3. My PC is quite old and runs Win95, AOL7.0 & I.E 5.5. Do I have any prospects of running Tikal or is my PC simply too old ? |

RyanMC, thanksvery much for the help and support. However, I don't think I am able to do this. When I go to the Mozilla Firefox page there is version 1.5 available for download but this requires Windows 98+ and 64Mb of memory. I'm sorry to say that my PC is sooo old that it only has Windows 95 and 32Mb memory. Having a quick scan on google shows that there may be Microsoft downloads to get round the Windows 95 bit, do you know if I can download a version of Firefox which will (a) only use 32Mb of memory, and (b) run the PNG files needed here. Unfortunately my financial situation is very poor so buying a new PC, even a cheap one, is not an option. |

Downloading Firefox does seem to have fixed the problem for me anyway. |

If firefox is too big of a memory hog, then perhaps opera, or netscape, but I am pretty sure they are bigger memory hogs than firefox. Updating to IE 6 will probably solve it as well as long as you are not using a nonsymetric screen resolution. _________________ ---------------

Internet Explorer 6 isn't available for Windows 95. I'd suggest trying Opera, which will probably run slowly (like most things on a computer that old) but should work.
