|
|
I've just spent an hour or two viewing all the maps and making a quite rating about them, based on my experiences, or in case of new maps, my judgement of them. It's highly subjective, but it's at least a start.
I only rated maps I'd consider using in tournaments. This may mean there are some maps other people like that i haven't rated.
I'd love to hear others comments or thoughts, as I'll use this list extensively when choosing tournament maps.
First I'll post the maps that I've rated there are 54 of them.

And now by plays, all maps included.
Obviously new maps have had much less time to get plays.

I would say that the top 10 on your list are classics that hooked me on SBW. Some of them I haven't seen played in a while in tournies though. I also find trying to create maps to be very fascinating, as I make them for my style of play, and then am surprised to see them adapt to other styles.
Spearjr is the master of the asymetrical map, which is much harder than you would expect to create. Mine are almost all mirrors of each side. His maps have some totally unique features on them that really evolved play styles.
I am surprised that map 140 is higher though, as that is one of the most unique, fun to play maps. I've never had a "non fun" game on that map. |

As I understand it, it's no fun if you don't draw a single rock or mountain card all game - which the odds are strongly against, but it could happen. |

I think map 140 should played with 3 players ONLY
with 4 or 5 players the card distribution can become a problem
I think Jason's (spearjr) ability to design FANTASTIC maps goes
hand in hand with with his other passion >> LEGO BRICKS |
