it has happened a couple of times lately (in rather crucial situatuions) that the system did not accept my "change the offering" power card - am I doing anything wrong?????

The obvious question is: what exactly are you doing?

when you have a question like this >>>
it's best to advise the following:
game being played
game number and name
the turn, phase or round you are referring to

that way one of us can check the gamelog and see what was done or
happend in the game

for the record >>> in 1172 Amun-Re games I have never seen this problem

game was/is 52562: as it was time to decide on my offering I checked "play" for the power card useage under the little button for the number of gold to be sacrificed, then scrolled to my number, acknowledged and hit submit lower down on the pop-up screen; system took the sacrifice but not the power card...

guess I realize that it will not be active until AFTER everybody else determines their sacrifice; must have been a coincidence that whenever i used the card previously (once or twice that is...) I was the last in line and the card was activated immediately.....newbies-you gotta love them despite themselves

that is part of the power of the card, you get to see what everyone else has done BEFORE you adjust to total amount... good for when you have camels and you want it at 2, but not 1 or 3
