The players who finished in places 1-5 in the group stage will play 3 games, those who finished in places 6-10 will play 2 games.

To decide who proceeeds to the final, the worst result (by placing) for those playing 3 games will be discarded. The results of the remaining 2 games for all will then be compared on the usual basis, 1sts, 2nds etc, broken by points lost by and finally if necessary position in group stage.

In practice this means that one first place will automatically book a place in the final.

I will probably start another 5 player tournament around the end of August after the summer holidays.

Although he was last into the final, our World Cup organiser has won his first 5 player tournament.

Pity, I can't use the excuse that organising the tournaments is so distracting that I can't do well in them any more!
