I am not really good enough to have much of a view on basic versus advanced.
I initially thought advanced was fairer, but the luck of the draw seems to make it almost as random as the basic game. It also adds time which makes me think basic is probably the way to go for the initial tournament. If that is a sucess then we can always have another.
However, if there is an overwhelming outcry in support of advanced I could be persuaded to change my mind.

Well - 20 is a good number for a 4 player tournament.
I will go with that, using basic set up.
We will see how it goes and if it is worth continuing with I will run other tournaments for different numbers of players and with the advanced set up.
