season 1 still has over week and half to go. I think the games are going good, with everyone playing people at their own level.
Season 2 will be reseeded based on the season 1s results based on if everyone returns or we get new members
Please put on this message, if your going to return
Do you like the 3player league?
Would you prefer 2player ?
another option is to make this a combined league 2,3 and 4player games.
Please let me know which format you'd prefer.
If you weren't in season 1, and want to join by all means put your name down.
thank you |

I'm in. I don't have a preference for the league format, as long as I don't have to play against hagin in every game. |

Not feeling the love... /sniff
I think the league format is a good idea for the very reason that you do have groups at different levels. Playing good players is the best way to imrpove your game (imho) but you don't learn Chess by starting to play Kasparov and I know from experience it can be a put disheartening to totally get your ass kicked with little understanding why or how.
So kudos to Payton for once again organising this.
As for mixing it: its no doubt more work but I think I'd prefer to see a separate 2 player league.
Oh and I'll be in for the next league. |

Just had a thought: maybe alternate 2 and 3 player leagues since running both would be extra work and might lower participation. |

I would be willing to join the league. I have enjoyed the Amun Re league started by Graditus, and it may be time to expand my horizons.
And besides...
(wiping imaginary dirt off my shoulder)
Amun Re has gotten too easy...
I'm kidding of course, next season of the Amun Re league is going to be painful, so you have to forgive me, I must boast while I still can!
Edit: 2 or 3 player is fine by me. I'm less interested in 4 player. In my brief experience, the fun in Reef is that attack, and it doesn't seem to be as beneficial to attack in 4 player, which reduces the enjoyment. |

4 player Reef I find to be a bit of a mixed bag.
It's fair to say that as you increase the number of players it becomes more of a social game. Thats not to say its less tactical/strategic but its different. I'll put it this way: its more about playing the players than playing the position (imho).
So it becomes important to do things like not appear to be in a commanding position too early or you might get slapped down, hard. It was a running joke in my local gaming group that whoever had the lowest score in El Grande after the second scoring round won 90% of the time. Why? Because the "leaders" got picked off. 4 player RE has this aspect.
4 player with 1-2 inexperienced players can be a bit chaotic. I know I've won or lost 4 player games based simply on the luck of the draw (with a chaos factor in play it tends to be that whoever plays just before the player who ends the game by eating his/her last shrimp wins 95% of the time as long as they're competent).
Puerto Rico is very much like this: I want to be sitting to the left of the most inexperienced player (but in this case I want them playing after me). |

I'll be in again too, thanks Payton.
For me, the sheer quantity of games at the one time was nearly a little too much for me and I was close to not going on with round 2 as I was starting to find it a bit more of an obligation to play than playing for the fun of it.
So, I know others probably have no problems with the number of games but for me I'd like to have a few less games (although I'm not sure if this is logistically possible from your end) at the one time. And none with hagin
But I'll jump in again for another go though as ultimately I did enjoy it and thanks once again.
I wouldn't be up for a 2p league but would be happy to play 4p (I require a bit more chaos in the game to knock hagin down a notch or 2 ) Seriously, I like the chaos/multiplayer interraction (I love the turbulence involved in the game and trying to rise to the surface. Or else sinking can be fun too) and thus prefer 4 to 3 and wouldn't enjoy 2. |
