I have decided to base season one divisions solely on scores on SBW. I have ranked players by wins/(games played +3), with ties broken by number of games played. The +3 is to prevent a player with a small number of games coming too high up the table.

There are a number of problems with this - it makes no allowance for the numbers of players in a game (but I haven't got the energy to trawl though that amount of information) - it does not adjust for players who have played in variants where the object was not to win in the conventional sense (again too much effort to deal with) - it does not take into account the skill of the opponents (impossible to deal with) and it does not take into account games played FTF! However it is the best I have available to me.

(I took the scores about a week ago, and added others as players signed up so there may be a small element of distortion because of this).

I have decided that 8 player leagues are appropriate - with 6 or 7 players 4 of the 5 games would be against the same opponent. With 8, each player will be in 3 games with 6 of the others in the division and in 2 games with the final player, which should given a reasonable distribution.

If further players join, I will increase the lower divisions to 9 players.

To give more chance for players to move up (or down) to their appropriate level, there will be three promotions/relegations from most divisions, with the top/bottom player in each division moving 2 divisions up/down for the following season. (In practice players dropping out between seasons will probably mean that there are less relegations than promotions.) New players in future seasons will join the the lowest divisions and have to work their way up.

Based on the current 80 entrants the initial divisions will be
