OK, Laurion, I count you as interested. If you want in, let me know.
For initial seeding, I'm ranking people separately for each game size.
For the 3-Ladder, I look at all the 3ers you've played, and your adjusted percentage is (wins + 7) / (completed + 30).
The numerator is always (wins + 7). For the 4-Ladder, the denominator is (completed + 40). For the 5-Ladder, it's (completed + 50).
The idea is if you've got no games completed (like me) we'll assume you're below average, destined to win only 70% of the games you would if it were completely random. The more you've played, the more your results good or bad) will outweigh that assumption.
That system will be used ONLY for the first session. After that, anyone new will start at the bottom table. |

I'll play all three.
In a chess ladder there are only 2 players. What happens to all 3,4,5 players in the respective games?
What will you do about tables that fall behind in terms of speed? In theory you can start the game at table N immediately after the prior round's games at table N-1 and table N+1 finish. But if a table stalls for some reason, what happens?
When you are in a bracket with 4-5 games for each player, there's more slack to cover the slow player. With only one game the slow players are going to stand out more. |

{{ I'll play all three/}}
Heh. I just sent you a personal invitation, after noticing you were at this site.
{{In a chess ladder there are only 2 players. What happens to all 3,4,5 players in the respective games?}}
Only the first and last place players move tables.
{{ What will you do about tables that fall behind in terms of speed? In theory you can start the game at table N immediately after the prior round's games at table N-1 and table N+1 finish. But if a table stalls for some reason, what happens? }}
Under most circumstances, we'll wait for everyone to finish. If someone is really not not living up to the "rarely more than 25 hours" rule, they may be removed from the tournament and we may use some sort of accommodation, such as adjudication or unanimous agreement among the remaining players.
{{When you are in a bracket with 4-5 games for each player, there's more slack to cover the slow player. With only one game the slow players are going to stand out more.}}
I don't see why. |
