BTW, what that chart can't show is any marked absence. I have no objection to people signed up for a "Fast" tourney having to travel and marking themselves away.
How nice for them that have have jobs and vacations.
However, if you are one of the highlight players on that chart, you should either make a commitment to more frequent check-in for the next season or consider un-enrolling. |

"Delays" are any Duration > 12 hours |
Are you sure about this data? There are a bunch of folks whose max is greater than 12 hours who have 0 delays. The second entry on the list, for example. I think you had delays set to > 24 hours when you generated that chart. |

You are quite correct: "Delay" is > 24 hours. My text intro is incorrect.
I'll edit that.

All this discussion spurs a question. What do we mean by check? I spend 3-5 hours per day on the website. Unfortunately, the distribution of those hours is not even throughout the day (due to the limitations of access). I have seen notations of people "checking twice a day". Yet I know that a check these particular games greater than ten times per day. Based on the statistics discussed on this topic, though, a "check" only counts if it is your turn. I have absolutely no control over the timing of other peoples timing and, as pointed out earlier, the distribution of players around the globe can vary such that one phase can occur every 12 hours. If your division is composed of totally out of phase players that play the game faithfully (check at least twice a day), there is about a good probability that they will not be able to get one phase in per day (12 hour differences is better than a 8 hour difference). All this being said, a very difficult calculation should be possible to see what the "adjusted and weighted" delay really is. RSeulow, please calculate. |

true, but multiple checks per day would only be worth the greatest time between two checks in a day. if a person checks twice a day, once every 12 hours, they would be a faster player than a person who checks twice a day at first hour, 4th hour and 24th hour, since they would have a long check of 20 hrs between, compared to a long check of 12 hours between for the first guy.
Note too, I am not trying to single you out or anyone, just listing an observation that not all checks are quite the same and timezone differences can come into play at some instances, but still would only be at most equal to the a person's long check time frame. |

My point being, of course, that there is no reasonable way to predict a reasonable variance (in the statistical sense) for what a "fast" game should really look like. Seriously, though, I come from the old school of "the GM said you died, so now you're dead". If Gad says "go", then I'm gone (and I don't even blame him for it). I knew all this before I started and he did warn me that we would see how it played out. And, if any of you computer dudes out there know how to defeat the Smartfilter I have to contend with at work (in an untraceable fashion, of course), we would not even be having this discussion. |

Given that this thread is supposed to show standings I thought that I ought to show a table!
8/30
Division 01 2/7
1 1 0 0 0 wtf x ? (42)
2 1 0 0 1 yoseph x ** (46)
0 0 0 0 0 Knave x ** (33)
1 0 1 0 0 efreeman x ** (33)
1 0 0 1 0 powermorph ? (18)
1 0 0 0 1 NoMoreCheese ** (7)
2 0 1 1 0 WillyC3 x ** (16)
Division 02 0/7
0 0 0 0 0 mimoo ~ (0)

0 0 0 0 0 SaulPum ? (0)
0 0 0 0 0 jmucchiello ? (0)
0 0 0 0 0 daveszum ** (-4)
1 0 1 0 0 Leif ? (0)
1 0 0 1 0 andyd ? (-5)
1 0 0 0 1 pkwolf54 ** (-9)

0 0 0 0 0 NAB ** (-14)
0 0 0 0 0 sid88voodoo ** (-4)
Division 05 5/8
2 1 0 1 0 Dobinator * (-9)
2 1 0 1 0 kxw * (-9)
2 1 0 0 1 rseulow ** (-10)
3 1 2 0 0 Gaditus ** (-5)
3 1 0 1 1 Greven ~ (-17)
1 0 0 0 1 AdriaanPieters ** (-28)
3 0 1 1 1 Laurion ** (-35)
4 0 2 1 1 HighwayStar ** (-29)
Points after names are those carried forward from last season and those awarded for games completed this season. Points for winning (or not) divisions will be added once all games in that division have finished.
** = in for next season (auto enrolled)
* = in for next season
? = not yet informed me about next season
~ = out of next season
(if you think you have the wrong symbol or you want to change it, please let me know)
Entrance is subject to meeting the speed criteria (whatever they are!)
New for next season
Timms
TheAdmiral
Haimke
Wildfire2099
Progress
x 1 2 3 4 5 6 finished
1 0 0 0 0 1 4 2/7
2 0 1 3 1 1 1 0/7
3 0 0 1 4 0 1 1/7
4 0 0 2 3 2 0 0/7
5 0 0 0 0 0 3 5/8
Clearly in a 'fast' league it is unacceptable to have a game in round two half way through the time allotted to complete it.
I would like to continue with each season starting on the 1st of the month. I would also like to be as objective as possible if I have to suspend players for 'slow play'. I will publish some guidelines that I will use shortly. |

The first guideline I will use to decide whether players are guilty of slow play is to automatically include all players who have finished all their games by the 25th of the month in the following season. (This may benefit a slow player who is in a fast division, but will only help for that particular season).
Progress so far:
x 1 2 3 4 5 6 finished
1 0 0 0 0 0 1 6/7
2 0 0 2 2 1 1 1/7
3 0 0 0 2 3 0 2/7
4 0 0 0 3 4 0 0/7
5 0 0 0 0 0 0 8/8
The following table shows the difference in % completed of games including the player to games not including the player in that division.
A high number is good.
Richard 4
grizzlyman -11
ats2630 17
mimoo -16
JM 19
domster 17
Beast -29
jmucchiello -4
Sacarino -6
daveszum -19
Leif 22
pkwolf54 19
SaulPum -6
andyd -4
Pompkin -11
kwojtasz 10
sid88voodoo 8
Payton3434 8
yahkeh -1
NAB -3
kekeweb -11 |

Given that yoseph scored 14 more points than me in the old kingdom, I am not terribly optimistic. It seems that I will be the bridesmaid here...

I wonder if rseucool could run that program again, it had lots of stats, and stats are neat... even though it didn't make me look all that good |

Grats to wtf, champion of season one.
There is no need to differentiate between efreeman and Knave in this league (as it doesn't effect promotion/relegation or point scoring) so they are considered tied for 3rd place in the division. (Points lost by will still be used to decide divisional champions if necessary.) |

I found an objective person on the street, and I would like to report that he declared me the winner of the 3rd place position. |
