That is why I stopped playing in the 5-player league, the pace was substantially too slow for my liking. I would recommend the 4-player league, it moves at a very good clip. |

It is difficult to know how quickly games should progress in these leagues - if I were to make it too much quicker it may end up with a much lower number of players competing overall. Also players who generally play reasonably quickly can sometimes get caught out because real life intervenes.
I have tried to cater for those who prefer to play faster by introducing a 'fast' 4 player league, and changed the scoring system so that players can easily drop out for a season if they know a holiday is coming up.
I suspect this season of the 5 player league (and the 3 player league) is especially slow due to holidays and it may pick up next season.
I intend to run the 5 player league on a two monthly schedule, the 3 player on a 6/7 week schedule and the 'fast' 4 player on a monthly basis.
I will monitor slow play and may suspend players who should have sat out a season due to other commitments, so things ought to get a bit better in future. |

Actually, playing well enough to not get relegated out of division 1 is itself a huge accomplishment. I've always felt relieved to get that win that keeps you in.
There are some pretty amazing people here, you guys are all awesome!
I'm sure that most of the people even in the lower brackets could go back to their local game groups and crush them at Amun Re, everyone on here plays a lot and gets really good.  |

I start myself off with $10-15 dollars instead of 20 now, it is a fantastic handicap. Especially because the final effect on the score is indeterminate, so you cannot just point and say "well, I would have won without the handicap". I never do "points" handicaps.
But yes, I agree, every season that I hang around in division one is a minor victory in itself . |

The only reason for the delay is that I had originally issued a schedule of timings for all three leagues, so that they started/finished at different times.
In practice there is little reason to delay the start of the league until the 15th, although I am still waiting for one game to complete and one player to confirm entry or not.
So ... I'll start it off early (in a day or three) but with the 14 November as the scheduled end date. |
