|
|
i'm thinking of launching another Tikal tournament with a start date of 01-01-2013 (which reads the same in any date format ). i'm looking for a field of 6 players willing to play a full slate of auction games. my plan will be for all of us to play some number of games to qualify for a single elimination playoff series.
during the qualifying rounds we will each play 2-player, 3-player and 4-player auction games. since it won't be practical to do every possible combination, some form of seeding will be needed. my thought on that is to seed the field by total number of SBW Tikal wins but i'm open to other suggestions.
the top 4 players after the qualifying rounds will make the playoffs. the first playoff game will be a 4-er. the top 3 point earners from that game will play a 3-er. then the top 2 point earners from that game will play a 2-er to determine the champion.
so if you have played at least 50 games of Tikal on SBW (and i will be strict about this) and like the auction variant, please let me know if you'd be interested in a tournament like i described above. the first 6 players who respond to this post and meet the "experience" requirement will be seeded into the tournament ~ you can assume that i want to play so i'm looking for 5 more players.
as soon as the field is set, i'll post details about how the qualifying games will be played and who will play against who in those games.
looking forward to another Rumble in the Jungle _________________ thanks for reading this far, JokeToy |

JokeToy,
I'm not sure if I'm worthy, but I would be interested.

thanks for signing up, albeitar and Saul, good to have you both in the lineup
this has shaped up to be a strong, experienced field. i expect to post tournament details and 1st round match ups on New Year's Day 2013. hopefully we can get those opening games under way while folks are nursing their hangovers and watching football _________________ thanks for reading this far, JokeToy |

just wanted to say one more thing about the upcoming Tikal tournament. i'd like the tourney to move along at a good pace. will everyone please commit to taking at least one turn (bid or tile placement or scoring round) in each of your games per day? also to put up the suitcase if you will be away from an Internet connection for more than one day? please let me know now if this will be a problem for you ~ thanks!
til we meet again, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and all that jazz _________________ thanks for reading this far, JokeToy |

haven't run into you yet in the Jungle so nice to meet you, daveszum!
i have a qualifying rounds match up scheme wprked out for 6 players and we currently have a field of 6. but i'd be happy to try to rejigger my plan to accommodate 8 players, which has at least one advantage over the 6 player format. what i'd ask of you is to recruit the 8th player if you can ~ just let me know. _________________ thanks for reading this far, JokeToy |
