Greetings Tikal players!
Well, there's 2 feet of snow on the ground outside my cabin ❄️ and the wood fire's crackling in the stove 🔥 but the calendar tells me it's spring next week. How about a Tikal tournament to celebrate the promise of warmer weather?
I'm looking for 8 more players to join me in a tourney featuring standard 3-player games. The format would be 2 qualifying rounds where each player plays 2 games in both rounds. So a total of 4 qualifying games, with each player playing every other player once. 5 points for 1st place, 3 points for 2nd place and 1 point for 3rd place. The 3 top point earners from the qualifying rounds will play one championship game.
All I ask is that you commit to playing each game to the finish and that you do your best to take at least 1 turn per day in your tournament games. If we start the tournament on the first day of spring (this coming Monday, March 20th) and play at a decent pace, we could crown a champion in early May.
OK, please reply to this thread if you're interested. It's been a long while but we've enjoyed some fun Tikal tournaments in years past. Let's give it another shot 🦎🐾👏🎯😎 _________________ thanks for reading this far, JokeToy |

After an absence of 17 yrs from Tikal, I played, as promised, 100 games on SBW, and finished with a winning percentage of 15% which I do not consider competitive for myself or by my opponents. However, I think that public tournaments have been lacking on SBW in recent years, loosening the bond bwt players who are not members of private groups, clubs, etc. Therefore, if you can gather 7 additional players, then I will gladly complete the bracket. If you get 9 or more, then you can drop me from consideration. In either case, my thanks for your offer to run the tournament. |

Thanks for your support, pastgo, much appreciated 😎.
I'd like to fill the field with 9 players but we can still have a fun 3-player Tikal tournament with a field of 6. I'll leave this thread open until Sunday, March 26th and we'll take it from there. _________________ thanks for reading this far, JokeToy

Well, thanks for your support, pastgo and Barra(uda. Disappointing to see SBW in this state, its forum taken over by ads and no real player interaction anymore. Sad really 😟 _________________ thanks for reading this far, JokeToy |
