The poker sites have a feature that you can make notes about your opponents. How about having such feature here on SBW as well?
For example, in Amun-Re it would be useful to have notes about how people sacrifice, how they value camel provinces, how aggressively they go for most pyramids and so on?
The first rounds are critical in Amun-Re and the choices made there are highly based on player reading. Without these notes I often feel desperate trying to figure out how I should play with these strangers. |

I think that is potentially interesting, although I find it highly unlikely I would put that much effort into reading my opponents on this site.
It's probably not that difficult to implement, but that might be a lot of additional storage space for the site. There are a ton of users now. |

I don't think storage space would be that much of an issue, since it would only grow as people used it.. and I doubt people would use it enough to cause a problem.
An interesting idea. I'll add it to the idea board. |

You are familiar with the Notepad, aren't you? It's right next to the Messages. That allows you to make notes as you go on other players, and even allows you to have a reminder show up at the top of the game every time you open it up. I always keep notes on what opponents are doing in Hoity Toity, not that it does that much good. Occasionally maybe. The notes do stay though and if you start playing a game with someone you played before, you can always look back at your completed games to see what you wrote about them. Do be careful though. I wrote some pretty derogatory things about some people once and came to find out I had hit "Messages" instead of "Notepad." Public apology time. But maybe you're talking about something completely different. Well, for what it's worth... |

This is only slightly different from a feature my fiancé suggested this site should have just the other day. She asked if you could "rate" other players like you can rate sellers on amazon.
I'm not sure if testimonials about other users would be really great, or if it'd just turn into a nightmare of spiraling flame wars. |

There are lots of meta-game options along these lines that would be worth exploring such as buddy lists, game invitations and maybe even blacklists.
A possible feature of buddy lists would be the ability to keep track of tendencies; presumably this is something you'd only want to do for people you played with frequently.
If you had a blacklist then you could privately prevent certain users from seeing and joining your games without having to publicly give them a poor rating.
I dislike the idea of having any kind of public player feedback. I think it would get abused. |
