Well congrats to the four finalists:
brianlcarr
Vinny
smlait
sedge
And we say farewell to the other semifinalists:
Alashar
cterrell
JM
Bogey
after some incredibly close matches, with several games which would have had bearing upon final group standings having a difference of only 1 or 2 points on a few occassions. Very close.
Just for info - point standings for the semifinalists are:
sedge 8 4 0 0 = 44
Bogey 5 5 2 0 = 39
smlait 5 4 3 0 = 38
Alashar 6 3 1 2 = 37
Vinny 6 2 2 2 = 36
cterrell 3 5 2 2 = 33
brianlcarr 2 5 2 3 = 30
JM 2 4 1 5 = 27
And once again - poor old Bogey. Finished his semi with the 2nd-most tournament points, but still couldn't get a berth in the final. And big props to Brian who's managed to sneak through every round and is on 30 points (being a par score) - hehe very nice and perfectly played. Look out for him pulling a Steven Bradbury (an Aussie sporting icon - Wiki him if you're unaware of his achievements)
Once again - thanks to everyone for playing and for the great games so far.
I'll create the final games - see you there! |

OK, we're all done.
After a hard-fought finals series the results were as follows
Final 1:
smlait: 96
brianlcarr: 92
Vinny: 100
sedge: 105
Final 2:
smlait: 89
sedge: 90
brianlcarr: 93
Vinny: 105
Final 3:
sedge: 99
smlait: 117
brianlcarr: 102
Vinny: 87
Final 4:
sedge: 123
brinalcarr: 102
Vinny: 104
smlait: 71
which means, after Vinny seemed to have clasped victory but had a seemingly minor stumble just short of the finish line that the final points tally is:
sedge: 12
Vinny: 11
brianlcarr: 9
smlait: 8
So the winner of the Tournament, is, err, well, me. Hurrah!
So, thanks one and all for playing. If you have any thoughts on the tournament, would like to see different tie-break conditions (such as no. points vs number of 1sts) or a different format (perhaps more of a round-robin as opposed to the seeded structure that I ran this time), please let me know.
Thanks again. |

Thanks for running this sedge and congrats on teh win
I'll get you next time... grrr
My only suggestion would be, in the case of a tie-break on point/number of wins in round I would use the total number of points scored in all the games in that round as a tiebreak (e.g. something like 105+84+74+100) rather than looking at total number of wins throughout the tournament. |
