Just as long as those games don't then disappear from other online sites, due to being bought out by Micro$oft. (Can anyone say Puerto Rico?) |

They will more than likely disappear from the free sites. Once someone actually pays for digital rights I can't see that owner letting us(or anyone else for that matter) keep them up for free. I don't have a major problem with it since they have been gracious enough to let us use their material for free for such a long time. I don't see any of the games on this site being major targets, but Tikal could end up on the 360 at some point I guess. _________________ ---------------

Pretty sure they've announced Ticket to Ride coming to XBLA, too. |

That would be interested since Days of Wonder already has it on-line with their website which you have to buy their games to get codes to use. Maybe the subscription service is too big to ignore... |

Not so sure that it would compete per say. With XBLA you are paying for the community rather than the game. With the XBLA board game versions you want to play real time, quick games, and really can't play with anyone in the same house unless you buy multiple copies of the game and multiple Xbox 360s. SBW is great for slower than realtime play and play-at-work. To get the benefit of the XBLA games online you also need to have the gold membership to be able to play online, which will be one of the only ways to play these advanced games with "hidden hand info". |

No question the audience is different, but if you are paying out big money to license a game you don't take that risk. I can tell you that most developers are going to get en exclusive license for digital distribution, and if they have that the play by web sites will have to bring the game down. _________________ ---------------

I will be getting a XBox for my boys for Christmas! Ok, I'm looking forward to it also.
Any advise on what to get? |

I would say that it depends on how old they are and what you want them to play, but the Lego series (Starwars, Indian Jones and Batman) are all great. Viva Pinata 1 is also good. Xbox live arcade is where you will find the most for kids also (plus the games are only about $10). http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/livearcadexbox360/default.htm?WT.svl=nav
I would also recommend something like www.gamefly.com to rent games so you don't buy stinkers. You can rent with the option to buy and then also buy older used games. I get most of mine for $15-20.
You will also find that a majority of the popular games are first person shooters and rated M also. |
