|
|
It has come to my attention that there have been a couple of scoring bugs for games using Variant 2 or Variants 1 and 2 together.
The bug occurs when two (or in the rare case three) herds or land chains of size 2 or less are joined together. The incorrect number of points are awarded.
For those of you wondering "Why wasn't this caught in Beta-testing" or even "I beta tested that and it was working" -- It was indeed working correctly originally but in an effort to fix a separate problem this error was reintroduced.
For the time being I'm choosing between the lesser of two evils -- the lesser being the duplicate index error messages ('Duplicate entry '###-##-#-#' for key X...') you may see from time to time. Hopefully in the near future both issues will be resolved.
If you think you have a current or past game where this was an issue let me know and I'll be happy to correct your score. |

Well... I'm just playing my first ever game of Hacienda, and on turn 2 I noticed that the order in which I placed my pigs (2nd and 3rd actions after a land placement) meant a difference of 7 pesetos (same points).
We're playing with both variants together, so maybe this is a connected issue.
It seems that when a herd first arrives to market, and a subsequent animal is added to the herd, the pesto calculation of variant 1 doesn't take into account the amount of land in contact with the new animal.
Or maybe that's normal behaviour
[EDIT]
Oh, and by the way, I think it scored me correctly when I did it the original way so no need to adjust. Just thought I'd raise the point in case it was linked. |

Which game did this occur in and when? If you can point out which gamelog entry that would help. Thanks! |

Sure thing...
#9809 is the game (only turn 2).
Gamelog is:
Quote: |
K Syntax places a pampas land tile at (12,, scoring 2 points for increasing the size of a land chain. (Mon 14 Aug, 2006 18:37)
K Syntax places a pig tile at (12,9). (Mon 14 Aug, 2006 18:37)
K Syntax scores 1 point for placing an animal next to water. (Mon 14 Aug, 2006 18:37)
K Syntax places a pig tile at (11,9). (Mon 14 Aug, 2006 18:37)
K Syntax collects 8 pesos for connecting to a market. (Mon 14 Aug, 2006 18:37)
K Syntax scores 1 point for placing an animal next to water. (Mon 14 Aug, 2006 18:37)
K Syntax scores 1 point for connecting to a market. (Mon 14 Aug, 2006 18:37)
K Syntax ends his or her turn. (Mon 14 Aug, 2006 18:37)

If I had swapped the positioning of the pigs, I'd have earnt 21$ instead of 28$. Same points...
[EDIT]
So the other way round I would have got 1 peso instead of 8 pesos.
Apologies if this is normal behaviour, but I didn't think it was... |

This is normal behavio[u]r; you earn pesos only when placing an animal adjacent to a market.
You don't get any income for increasing the size of a herd that was previously connected to a market unless the newly-placed animal is also touching that market. |

I believe this problem might have occured in game 10113. I had two land singles and joined them into a single chain of 3 by placing a land tile in the middle of them.
Quote: | brahman buys a rock from the land deck. (16 Aug 2006 05:17 pm)
brahman places a rock land tile at (11,0), scoring 2 points for increasing the size of a land chain. (16 Aug 2006 05:17 pm)
brahman buys a pampas from the land deck. (16 Aug 2006 05:19 pm)
brahman ends his or her turn. |
If I am reading it correctly it seems it gave me two points for placing the center tile, but didn't add the points for the other two tiles now that they had become part of a land chain of 3. |
