I didn't collect pesos for placing cows next to a market.

Specifically (9,9) and (10,8 ).

It may be because I am linked to my main land via a pampas?

The gamelog shows you collecting 1 peso for the animal at (9,9) and 2 pesos for the animal at (10,8). This is correct for Variant 1 which tallies income from market connections quite differently than the standard game. See the rules page for more details.
