Thurn and Taxes seems like a good implementation for this site. It has a similar "Take 3 actions on your turn" mechanic that Hacienda has so it should play well. T&T is a great game to boot. |

Really guys, BSW is not that difficult! There's a pretty useful English guide at www.brettspielwelt.info and a 'town' site at http://englishtown.brettspielwelt.info that is also useful. If you've only tried it using your browser (like Internet Explorer) then I agree it can seem awkward. Download the client program and it becomes much easier
Of course, you should still play games here too
Play By Web and Online certainly serve 2 different purposes, but I expect you'll find a lot of crossover (like me). I'm a big fan of both! |

Puerto Rico or San Juan might fit nicely, or the English rendition of Wallenstein called Shogun, or even Princes of Florence may be interestring, but the auction process could take a bit |

FRIEDRICH (Histogames), would make a nice companion to Wallenstein. |

Bonaparte at Morengo would also be a good choice since it involves no dice rolling. |

It's a great game but the battles where each player plays a card at a time (usually 5-30 cards in a battle) would take forever. From an implementation perspective it would be a good choice for an electronic game but it's something that you would want to play in real-time rather than in a turn-based setting. |

I agree with Onceler's assessment of games for SBW. That is very well thought out. One game that would benefit immensely with SBW implementation would be Louis XIV by Rudiger Dorn (of Goa fame). I noticed it was mentioned briefly at the start of this thread...and I realize I'm behind in posting this. I just joined a few months ago so I'm catching up on reading in the forum during downtime.
Anyhow, Louis XIV has not been played by many and I have been quite impressed by the reaction I've gotten from people that I've taught it too. It has a unique movement structure (diagonal moves from one tile to another), area of influence, and its loaded with strategy. Plus the movements are difficult to process in advance due to the nature of the game. So a play-by-web version would be great to give players time to process turns. And the game doesn't drag on ... there are 4 rounds, each taut with tension. And scoring only comes at the end. I've also played a house variant to increase the rounds to 5 or 6 if others were interested. It plays terrific as a 2 player game as well!
On the flip side I'm not a computer guy so I have no clue how time would go into each of the bits.
-Influence Markers (same as Tikal)
-Influence Cards (with different royalty - players can hold up to 6)
-Intrigue Cards (which can carry over round to round - similar to Amun-Re's Power Cards)
-Mission Cards (which, if completed during the mission phase give players unique advantages)
-Louisdors ($)
-Coat-of-Arms (8 different crests representing single victory points)
-And the other twist ... that the royalty tiles may or may not flip after each round of the game (if specific conditions were met - independent to each tile)
In my limited Euro gaming experience (less than 3 years), this is easily the most under-rated game on BGG.
Just my 2 pennies,
Shane |

So that would be a PBW adaptation of the boardgame adaptation of a MMORPG? | and the mmorpg is a ripoff of games based on Dungeons and Dragons. |
