Hello all,
First a question/comment regarding custom maps. I noticed when uploading them there was an option to make them public but then it was greyed out and not offered as a selection. Is there a point at which a map becomes available to the public? Or is the feature just not implemented yet?
How about a ranking system. When a map is played, and the game ends, the players can rank the map on scale of 1-10. The maps could then be listed as options and people could see which custom maps others have played and have liked. |

The maps can be made public by the person that uploaded them when they have been played to completion atleast once. So you have to start the first game with your map.
The ranking idea is a good one, we had talked about it at one point. We'll have to see how popular the custom maps are before we decide for sure if that's something we want to implement.

| I think we decided to wait on the rating system to see if it would be necessary to have a rating AND a count of times the map was used... |

One flaw I've already noticed with the private/public functionality is that three of us have all uploaded the 3-player fish map from BGG.
So maybe maps be default should be public? |

I'm one of the fish people - it was really a test of a 'known-good' map - you can delete maxdemonk_01 if you like.
Not sure what the best thing to do with public/private/inactive is - the fish map owner could mark it public, then presumably change it later to private/inactive - and someone else come along and upload it again ?
In the end - you may be stuck, but it may only be a problem with a few maps- the ones uploaded on BGG for example.
My gut feeling is make em public by all means, but a bigger problem might be nut-jobs like me going mad with the custom map generator and filling the menu with spam ! At some point in the future some sort of method of filtering the maps might become essential - by completed games or player ranking.
