I sent a PM to JonMichael Rasmus who always does the Top 100 Analysis posts on BGG about Tikal's ratings. I believe it came out in Feb 2006 on spielbyweb (could be wrong though). Anyway it wasn't till March 2006 when BGG redid the ratings by adding 100 dummy votes so it revised many games ratings. Anyway here's the response I got.
Quote: | Tikal
3/21/2006 61
3/28/2006 62
4/4/2006 61
4/11/2006 57
4/18/2006 57
4/25/2006 59
5/2/2006 60
5/9/2006 58
5/16/2006 57
5/23/2006 57
5/30/2006 56
6/6/2006 56
6/13/2006 53
6/20/2006 53
6/27/2006 51
7/4/2006 52
7/11/2006 51
7/18/2006 51
7/25/2006 50
8/1/2006 50
8/8/2006 50
8/15/2006 50
8/22/2006 50
8/29/2006 50
9/5/2006 50
9/12/2006 50
9/19/2006 50
9/26/2006 51
10/3/2006 52
10/10/2006 52
10/17/2006 53
10/24/2006 52
Between May and July, Tikal picked up about 10 positions and it has only ceded two of those since leaving the peak in September. The two positions it has lost recenlty are due to Traumfabrik and Roads and Boats. |
So who thinks Santiago will break the Top 50 in 3 or 4 months after it's got more exposure due to spielbyweb letting the masses try it out?
I could be mistaken but I think it was around #65 or #62 in March 2006.
Oct 26, 2006 931 ratings and is ranked #58
Nov 1, 2006 940 ratings and is ranked #57
Nov 9, 2006 948 ratings and is ranked #56

I'm just in my first few games, but am quite impressed with Santiago. There's a lot going on in the game...and it is a load of fun. So, yes, I think it will rise. |

Well, I rated Tikal a "10" on BGG after playing it on SBW. I had rated Santiago a "6" after playing 1 game in-person and I am now playing it on SBW to see if my opinion will change.
My other SBW ratings:
Amun Re - 7.5 (3 SBW plays, 1 in-person play) - I like this one better in-person.
Hacienda - 7.5 (8 SBW plays)
Hoity Toity - 7 (4 SBW plays)
Wallenstein - 3 (1 SBW play)
Reef Encounter - not played
Bus - not played |

If it already has 950 ratings, then the extra 100 or so players who will play it here wont make a huge difference unless they all think it's a great game. It seems like fun, though will have to play a few games through to the finish to get a real feel for it.
BGG I think needs to offer a different rating section for online plays. Playing games online is a totally different feel to in person plays. Amun Re is much more calculating online, and more intuitive in person. Tikal is so damn slow online, but probably would be more playable in person. Hoity Toity definitely should be played in person as a light filler only |

Keep in mind, Santiago is also being reprinted by Z-Man and will hit shelves again soon. So yes, I definitely think it's going to be on the up-and-up! It's one of my very few 10s; I think it's absolutely genius. |

Clearly, you're not playing with the right people. Two player games of Tikal with two fast players move speedily and are lots of fun. |

I have always thought that Santiago was seriously underrated. It's somehow ironic that people may need a PBW realization in order to see what a good game it is , while it actually lacks the intensive player interaction face to face, trying to talk the overseer into laying the canal where you want it. |

Yeah online I'd say it's a 8 or 9 but face to face I give it a 10. Two of my best friends absolutely hate the game (namely, Dean and Johnathan). I like the hidden money, the psychological guessing what the opponents will bid. The screwage to see it on someone's face. I love the feeling of getting screwed too. |

With it's appearance here and the reprint, its ranking should go up. It's a good game. It should appeal to those who like abstracts like Ingenious and those who like a little negotiation as well. |

hese ratings are used to determine an individual game's score and various other things, such as its ranking on the site. _________________ iphone application development in dubai |

What does an ID Maker do? It is a program that is installed on computers to print out certain information on the computer. If you want to make a list of employees, it is very common to use this list to keep track of all the names of the people who are working for a certain company or business. It is also used by many companies around the world to keep record of all the employees who will be working for them. The most important thing about this type of software is that it helps in reducing mistakes and maintains the accuracy of the information that is being input into a computer. There are several types of ID creators around the world. It depends on what kind of information you need to have on your computer and which programs you are using to maintain it. When you want to make a list of people who work for a certain company, there are a lot of software that will help you to gather that information. If you are using the information to create a database, then you can buy a database management software that will also help to maintain the information. But if you want to just make a list of names, then you can just use an id maker to make one for you. If you are wondering whether an id maker will really help you with the accuracy of the data, then there are some tests that you can perform that should help you find out. All you have to do is log on to the internet and visit some forums that are related to the business that you run. This should help you to see whether there are people who are having problems with the program or not. If there are, then you should immediately remove them so that your business runs without any problem. |
