I worked at a large financial firm where our business development group was answering inbound phone calls about sales opportunities. They also had to get x% of personal advice leads per month. There was no opportunity for side projects and definitely no opportunity for analysis. Mostly they would move on to become people leaders or advanced sales roles.

I use Freeagent. I get it for free with a Mettle account (which I only got for this purpose and don't really use). Using it for making tax digital for VAT for the last 3 returns and have found it straightforward to use. I am a freelancer but it was originally recommended to me by several friends who are a mix of self employed and find out why a vat accountant is beneficial

Xero for me used Sage for years and almost broke the business it was that complicated. Xero is a game change, wish I had shares with them.
