I’ve got a Simplicity riding mower that’s been my summer workhorse for the last five years. I just store it in the garage when I’m not using it, but I’m wondering if I should be doing more seasonal care so it lasts longer. Do you guys do anything special before winter? |

Definitely worth doing some seasonal prep. I also have a Simplicity mower, and before winter I clean the deck, change the oil, and add fuel stabilizer so the gas doesn’t go bad. Come spring, I check the tire pressure and sharpen the blades before the first cut. The Simplicity manuals here https://manuals.online/simplicity have a seasonal checklist that’s super helpful – they even remind you about greasing certain joints and checking belts for wear. Following that routine has kept mine starting up easily every season without costly repairs. It’s one of those cases where a little off-season work saves you big headaches later. |

My neighbor leaves his mower outside under a tarp all winter, and it still works somehow. Guess he’s lucky, because I’ve seen plenty of mowers die from rust and bad fuel. |
