| My elderly parents keep getting scammed online. Would getting them a VPN help with security? |

A VPN service helps but isn't complete solution for seniors. VPN prevents: public WiFi attacks (if they use library/cafe internet), ISP tracking and selling their data, phishing via local network, some malicious redirects. VPN doesn't prevent: phishing emails (they need to recognize scams), malicious downloads (they need antivirus too), social engineering (scammers calling pretending to be bank). Better comprehensive approach: VPN for network security (ExpressVPN is easiest UI I've found for non-tech users), password manager (prevents reusing passwords), antivirus (Malwarebytes), ad blocker (uBlock Origin - prevents malicious ads), regular security training. I set up parents (70s) with ExpressVPN: configured auto-connect (they don't think about it), installed on all devices, I'm admin on account (can check if they're protected), showed them status icon (green = protected). Cost $6.67/month, I pay it as peace of mind. Most important: regular conversations about current scams. VPN is just one layer of senior cyber protection.
