You KNOW I'm interested in playing in the tourney, and helping to organize it if need be.

I'll take a break from my break here at SBW to participate in this tourney. Sounds like it could be fun... |

Ill play
Sounds like fun!
Auction is a better format...even if I do sometimes get carried away with the bidding. |

Update
Thanks for the input and quick replies.
Regarding format, we are using the auction variant. Four four player games, with the winner of each advancing to the finals.
I like the idea of seeding using the 1-8-9-16, 2-7-10-15, 3-6-11-14, 4-5-12-13 method that you would typically see in a bracket (all of you Americans think NCAA basketball pool) and will use that. I will base the seedings on where everyone stands when the 16th person enters. Winning % will determine seeding in case of a tie.
Regarding invites, winning % will be used as a tiebreak when extending invites beyond the original 16.
Stargate, borisumi, sedge, and shizzane have declined the invitation.
Those who have accepted include (in current seeding order)
almondralf
Bonedigger
Sparrowhawk
cterrell
smlait
kxw
Dozer
Bogey
Invites extend through the 20th spot (stan). I am sending PMs to those now eligible. |

So I take it you didn't take into account those that played alot of 2 or 3 player games? Not that I blame you, that would be a ton of work as I believe the system isn't set up for it. |

Yes, clearly the way to qualify for this tournament is to play only 2-player games to increase your winning percentage. |

as I read this thread
the invites were for total wins
NOT win percentage
fyi -- I passed on the tourament
which means Bogey got the next invite |

Yes, star did pass. Lucky me. The tournament will be less with you. Now I can go and kick Chris's butt. |

Still have eight committed as of this evening. Dilson declined, cpsof95 has been extended the next invite. Brian, a few more declines and you get a spot! |

I didn't. There is no way for me to absolutely quantify who are the best players without doing some serious weighting and database querying - and that ain't happening for a pick-up tourney!
My goal is to have a tourney among the best and most experienced players. Yes, there will be some really good players who only have 9 wins or so that won't get an invite. To those I humbly suggest organizing another parallel tourney. I'd love to play in it!
And should this tourney gain any traction, it might make a fun annual event as well, something to look forward to as the leaves start to change.
