Why isn't the End-to-end Worker Movement set as a default option?
I accidentally joined a game where this "variant" wasn't chosen, and now I have to spend a lot more time on pointless clicking and calculation.
In fact, what's the point of playing the game without this option? There's no reason whatsoever to use more action points than you have to, since you don't have to use all your action points, if you don't want to.
If you ask me, you should set this "variant" as the only way to play the game. |

Perhaps because when you play IRL you can't see your possible locations highlighted for you, and part of the skill of the game is finding the optimal paths? |

we beat this horse to death last summer
mabe it's time re-visit the subject
I am all for making end-to-end worker movement the DEFAULT setting
I think starting a game without end-to-end worker movement
in most cases is an error or the act of a newbie |

Seconded, you should have to actively choose the non-end-end movement variant. |

This is the Intertoobz, where there is no horse so dead it can't be kicked some more. |

Ok. Here's the deal, the checkbox for end-to-end movement now defaults to checked. So technically speaking, this is still a variant -- but it's a default variant. And that's your oxymoron of the week. |

I was wondering the same thing, but then realized that late in the game, there could be a point when you actually might want to use one more AP to get to the same place, otherwise you might be left with an AP that you don't really want to use anywhere else (you have to use all 10, no matter what, right?). There came a point in my last game where my movement options were limited at the end of the game and it almost became counter-productive to have to move something with the last AP I had left over. Without end-to-end movement, you should be able to move a worker to a hex where it would be 3 AP to go directly to it, whereas with end-to-end it will automatically give you the shortest route, which might be only 2.
Now, I don't think it's worth disabling the end-to-end movement for the rare time that you might not want it, but maybe there could be an option where you could switch it off for a turn if you wanted to do a particular movement yourself? |

you can end your turn WITHOUT using all your action points
just click the "end turn" arrow
during a scoring round it's nice to use ALL your action points
so you can check your math and see the points scored before ending your turn |

Thanks, stargate. I didn't realize that you didn't have to use all 10 AP.
In that case, yeah, there's really no reason not to have end-to-end all the time, is there? |
