Keythedral
Around the World in 80 Days

All of these would play nicely in a web-based environment. |

Are those the choices, or are those just your suggestions, ekted? I know you've been involved with lots of the Beta testing, if I'm seeing things correctly.
My favs to see, of that list, would be:
Taj Mahal
Louis XIV
El Grande
Goa
Medici
Maharaja: Palace Building in India
Caylus
Royal Turf
Other possibilities? I have no idea about copyrights, etc., but here goes nothing.
Age of Steam
Railroad Tycoon
Atlantic Star / ShowManager
Colossal Arena
Formula De
Aladdin's Dragons, but that might be too many turns for the tokens & too many special spell abilities.
OH, and are more play-testers needed?!? I'll volunteer! |

A classic: Acquire
A new 'classic': Ra
Euphrates & Tigris might also work well here. |

I would think that the turn-based activities of Tikal would make it an excellent choice for this site. The only part that could bog down would be the tile bidding, but I don't think that it would take any more time than the bidding in Amun-Re.
Anyhow, just a suggestion |

Hello
I think classic "euro games" could be better choices. Because Tikal, El Grande, Caylus and La Cittá are "in development", I will suggest some other great games:
- Die Macher
- A Game of Thrones
- Torres
- Industria
- New England
- Domaine
- Taj Mahal |

How about Funkenschlag/Power Grid? I'm not sure how well that would lend itself to this format, with all the bidding rounds; but it's a pretty good game. |

Age of Steam
Heavy, desperate for an online version of some sort. The only downside to this would be the amount of time I'd spend here.

I am going to suggest not what I’d like to play, but instead offer a suggestion about the types of criteria you should be considering when deciding to implement a game.
I get the impression that you want to increase participation on the site. To do that, you should offer 1) games that aren't available elsewhere, 2) games that when played live create long pauses between players’ turns (because of the needed analysis or the number of things one needs to do), 3) games that require a larger number of players, or 4) games that very long. Summary – Unique, Pauses, Players, Time. If you want to add highly rated, then do, but that’s somewhat obvious.
As an example, I found this site because you offered Reef Encounter, and I think it’s a great implementation. Real time games of Reef are sometimes painful. You can’t really plan your turn before it’s your turn, and in real time games, I always find myself getting up between turns looking for something to do. I’d rather play Reef on SBW than play live. As another example, Hoity Toity is a great implementation on SBW because it’s best with a larger group, and I just can’t find a large group to play live. Playing games that are best with a large group is somewhat painful on real time websites because you have to wait for a large number of players to join the game . . .. Finally, a game like Die Macher is just too long for real time websites, and it’s fairly hard to get a real game together unless you go to a gaming event.
So, of the suggestions posted above . . . I would think you don’t want Caylus, Ra, Acquire, E&T, Queen’s Necklace, or Carrcasone. They are great games, but they offer quick decisions and little down-time between players’ turns, they play well with just a few players, and they are available on other sites.
Suggestions that fit the criteria with their score in terms of criteria listed above are, Railroad Tycoon 5 of 5, Age of Steam 5 of 5, Die Macher 5 of 5, A Game of Thrones 4 of 5, are all good choices. AGOT has been tried before but the effort has stalled for some time http://www.agotonline.com/, so if you want to show your stuff, then maybe a race to the moon?
Games not mentioned might include, Roads and Boats 5 of 5, Twighlight Imperium 3rd 5 of 5, |

Thanks to this site I have been considering games in terms of decision points. That is not how long a turn takes, but how often the decision of what to do changes between one player and another.
For Example in Reef Encounter you might do anywhere between 1 and 15 Actions on your turn, but you do them all at the same time before the next player so it is 1 DP.
In something like Goa you only do 1 Action at a time which would make for very slow going on SbW.
I'm looking forward to Caylus because it is a good game but it would take plenty of time to play.
Games I think would be good
Das Zepter von Zavandor
Maharaja
Java (good for the same reasons that Tikal is good)
Mexica
1830 (It takes so long anyway that it wouldn't matter that much) |
