Once anyone has abandoned a single game they are already banned I believe. Of course, this player is not abandoning them, just going on holiday for extended periods of time. |

The nimrod who voted yes in the poll was probably (drum roll): BlueGecko!
Even if he does get booted off the site, if he was Julius, he'll probably come back with a new handle and we'll go through this same dance all over again.
And what could be done to prevent that? |

A little bit of vigilance is about all it takes. This sort of cheating is obvious if someone looks at his record. |

They could ban his ip from the site. He could still get around it but it would take more effort than its worth. |

I just signed up at http://www.yucata.de and started two games. I noticed this morning that it was my move in both games, so I clicked on one arbitrarily but it wouldn't let me play that one until I had made the move in my "older game" (the one I had apparently created first).
Perhaps something like that could be implemented here? That would certainly solve this kind of problem from ever happening again. |

That would drive me batty! Sometimes, I'm checking in quickly and have time to take a turn in Amun Re or Santiago, but not enough time to think through a turn in Tikal or Reef Encounter. I'll come back and make those turns later. On that same note, if I'm stopping in to take all my turns (as is normal), I like to do each game type at a time. My brain works better that way! |

I agree, the yucata system is very annoying. In almost 2 years here this is the first time I remember someone abusing ths system like this, so it is not much of a problem.
Glad to see Ryan has sent him a message, but that's almost too lenient. There is nothing to explain here, just finish his games and ban him (remove him from the stats too if you can, as that's obviously the only thing that motivates him). |

it would also drive me batty
some other problems ----
which game is next when you have 20 turns to take
you could not take your turns in tournament games before or after other games
you would not be able to play a fast 2 -player game until other turns were completed first |

Okay, alright... Sheesh. It was just a suggestion!
But seriously, perhaps it could be adapted to work within a single game. So you couldn't play a different game of Amun Re before taking a turn in another game of Amun Re where you've waited longer. But that wouldn't affect your games of Tikal, etc. |

you did nothing wrong
your just up against a lot of experience
and a fear that some idea that does not get shot down might become law |

I'm also glad to see that Ryan has sent him a message. This is by far the most appropriate course of action. It's a warning, and gives the player a chance to redeem himself.
I'm far less happy to see the witch-hunt, and calls for banning.
As for the suggestion that games can only be played in history order, I'm with the 'no' camp, but I might go along with a suggestion that any games that have 'gone red' have to be addressed before you can action current games. But that would require developer effort, and I'd much rather see new games. |

I'm in Game 33426 with BG and since writing a message to ask him about the allegations in this thread he has taken another move but has not responded to the message.
I said in my earlier response that I would take no further moves in this game until he finishes some of his other games. However, one worrying thought is that I may then end up with an abandoned game against my name! So I'm left in a position where I have to take moves just so we can get to Turn 6 with either him winning or the game stalling on the final score. |
