I think this is the correct forum or perhaps Gadgets – mods please move if necessary.

I'm in need of a pair of hearing aids. I got my hearing checked out a year ago and was given the recommendation to get hearing aids then but due to cost I didn't proceed. A year later and my tinnitus is getting worse and I am finding it more and more difficult to understand conversations.

My question – what is the best way to purchase hearing aids? The prices I have been quoted are very high and I am looking for a way to ease the pain on the budget.

Is it possible to buy hearing aids online and get the setup by an audiologist here in USA? Can you save money this way?

The sounds are significant to me. I think hearing aids and earplugs are the same. I use earplugs for protecting my hearing, and it's beneficial to my ear. The loud sound of the motorcycle, shooting, music, and factory is harmful to our ear and may cause tinnitus, which is not curable.
