Games played and points scored.
I am not sure the variants have worked particularly well - the Hoity Variant didn't seem to do much for me, the tikal variant was OK as a one off and the hacienda variant is very odd.
Suggestions for variants for future tournaments are welcome!
The constraints are that it should be something that is fairly easy to see from the final position - ie changes to scoring etc. Altering gameplay (eg no stealing in Amun Re was much more time consuming for me to check on and it caused problems when players did steal).
Couple of ideas
Hoity - minus 5 points per caught thief at the end.
Hacienda - water is poison (-1 instead of +1 for water). |

Poisoning the water in Hacienda would make buying water a hostile move and would make the game more prone to the "bash the leader" disease. |

I am not sure whether we should change the variants for the final. I think the Bus, Reef, Santiago, Tikal and Wally variants are OK, but the Amun Re, Hacienda and Hoity are not up to much.
Looks like danbar1963 and I could well be in our third 3 player final, presumably to be toasted again by the third finalist! |

Gaditus, that does appear to be our modus operandi. |

With my win in Amu-Re taking me to 18 points, I'm really quite happy with my first tourney here at SBW. I just wanted to post a big thanks to all of you here, not just for the great games, but for bearing with me as I'm still learning 1 or 2 of these games properly.
Especially Gaditus in Bus, as my little tirades at not understanding the game were met with empathy and best help I could ask for.
So, thanks to those who beat me for teaching me how not to lose, and to those who I beat in turn for putting up a very spirited fight, it's great fun on here! |

24/24

8 23 Dobinator

8 18 kekeweb
8 12 Payton3434
8 05 NoMoreCheese
So it is ahauwi1 who gets the chance to show danbar1963 and me how to win in a final. Although some of the variants are not great I think it is best to be consistent for the final.
I have set up the games if the other two finalists wish to join me.
