As announced, I'm organizing a Reef Encounter. Contrary to the Wallenstein I'm not so sure about the mode. I think this game would work very well in two player sudden death challenges.
What do you think? I'm open for other ideas.

To participate, you must have at least one finished Reef Encounter game and an average turn time not exceeding 12h.

Two player games would be ok with me. 3 & 4 would also work. I am however against "sudden death challenges" by which I assume you mean single elimination. I'd much rather use a swiss system. So for example, if we had 8 people in the tournament, A through H, the intial parings might look like this:
A vs B
C vs D
E vs F
G vs H

Then, assuming, A, C, E, & G win, second round parings might look like this:
A vs C
E vs G
B vs D
F vs H

I believe this makes things more interesting for all contestants. However, it is just a suggestion, I'll play no matter what gets decided.

Good question. I'd prefer the normal version, but again it isn't a deal breaker for me.

I thought about the normal version.
Regarding the mode, let's just vote the participants.

No one seems to object the 2 players choice, so the question is sudden death or swiss mode, as explained above, or best of 3.
I still prefer the clean sudden death.

Sudden death means fewer tournament games, not necessarily a bad thing, but some people might like to be able to play more than one game in a tournament setting even if they lose their first.

You could do a few rounds of Swiss followed by a head-to-head of the two with the best record.

I'm in, and I'd prefer Swiss (normal mode).

For what it's worth, Swiss-style is much preferable to single elimination for just about every tourney I've ever attended.

2-player also removes any possible king-making moves among friends.

I would prefer playing more games in a tourney, as opposed to single elimination... after all, there's really no time constraints on us other than limits of our patience and whatever real-life throws at us to keep us away from the web.

I like Swiss, but if the numbers become unwieldy, maybe simple double elimination would be feasible without too much work imposed on the organizer. After all, you are volunteering for this duty, so don't make it a burden on yourself.

Regardless of what you, as the power-that-be, choose, please count me in on the fun.

If it was an issue of unweildly numbers, I'd be happy to help with any grunt work necessary. (Ie setting up pairings, etc.)

Count me in. Two player is fine. Normal mode, swiss style preferred.

Let me know if there's anyway we can help from an admin perspective in setting this up.

I am interested as well. Don't care if it is 2, 3 or 4 player and don't mind normal or advanced, but would prefer the swiss system (with a final head-to-head).
