Here is my suggestion: play only 2-player games, and you will never face this issue again.
Multi-player games can't be taken (too) seriously. |

And by the way Cps, if you're looking for someone who will give you a fair game, shotokanguy is probably the best person to play on this site. The guy lives and breathes by honor codes, so I would trust that he is on his own honor, and that his gaming reflects the same mentality. |
Everybody is great to play with except for a hand full of players. stargate is probably one of greatest player to play with and also a great teacher |

Hmm...Stargate. The movie or the TV series? I preferred the movie myself. They really did a great job making RA look like one evil dude with the special effects on his eyes. |

I've found that switching my browser to FireFox has improved my game quite a bit. Just a suggestion.

I'm not taking my turn in that game, until this is investigated by the staff. Where can I report this game? |

Just to let you know, the bully I mentioned stacking up a bunch of workers at my temple, decided to lock the temple to make sure I won't score it. I lost 5 points to the game winner, so I would have won the game without the bully.
The bully himself is yet to score, but he's going to reach about 50 points, while all the other players are over 100.
In another game this same bully brought 11 workers to a temple of 6 next to my camp, although I had stacked up a lot of workers there early in the game. I lost that game with 5 points as well.
Looking at the bully's games, he's doing the same thing in some other games as well.
I'd like to host open games, so I can play with new people, but experiences like this really don't encourage that. When you spend a few hours to do your best to win a close and then a bully decides to mess things up, it spoils the whole fun. I joined several games a while ago, and now I feel bad for lagging them up, because I just don't feel like playing those games. What's the point of all the planning and thinking, when someone decides to mess things up anyway?
P.S. How about implementing the chance to limit the joining of the game to people with a set amount of games or wins? |

Bkruppa, I tried to reply to your quote, but received a very stern warning about using a word that sounds just like "pane" but is spelled differently. I don't know how you got away with it and I didn't. My feelings are a little hurt. |

Your nemesis might be a spoiler but a Bully he aint under any definition....like this one;
[n] the act of intimidating a weaker person to make them do something.
There has been no attempt to coerce you to do anything. Repeating the word bully 8 times don't make it so.
I think it's time to move on really. _________________ It's not the winning, it's utter annihilation of your opponant that matters. |

cps, I haven't looked at your games, but preventing the game leader from scoring is often a sound strategy. If Player X has the option of scoring, say, 25 points and letting the leader score 60 (-35 swing), versus scoring 15 points but holding the leader to 45 (-30 swing), then the better move is to block the leader, even if Player X has no chance of winning. On the other hand, if Player X's options are score 25/allow 60 (-35) versus score 15/allow 55 (-40), then blocking the leader is not the better move. The goal for any move should be to maximize one's position, particularly against the leader, even if you have no chance of winning. It might look like kingmaking, but that's sometimes the result of a losing player making his best move. |

it turns out i'm the bully in this case.
cpsof95 was in two of my games of tikal. as i have responded (via in-game messages) it wasn't my intention to haress or bully, i was just playing the game as i knew how. i'm a beginner at tikal (and the other games at sbw), and i'm still trying to figure out strategies. my thoughts were that by increasing the worker count at the temple, it would force other players to pay more for guarding it to get the points. in the end, that hasn't completely worked in my favor as i have yet to win. but, i did not pull cpsof95 completely out of the running in either game--he was within 5 points of the first player in both games.
i apologize if i came off as a bully, it wasn't my intention. |
