Will post an update this evening at home, but we are still waiting on 3 games I think. Looking at likely winners, it seems that nobody is going to win more than 2 of their 5 games this time, and the finalists will be determined by losing margins. |

1 game outstanding (one of mine!). Here are the current standings:
Jernau25 4 2 9
Kanga 4 2 18
Djura 5 2 31
docaction 5 2 34.5
brianlcarr 5 2 45
gische 4 1 60
ahauwi1 5 2 73
Rebelslayer 5 1 53
spearjr 5 1 57
kxw 5 1 62
worcesterarlo 5 1 77
SunLion 5 1 85
Gaditus 5 1 99
almondralf 5 0 90
Payton3434 5 0 151
Wildfire2099 4 0 150
The last game will be won by either gische or Jernau, with me losing by no more than 20 points. As such the top 4 are going to be as above. The last game has at most 7 more moves (ie 2 rounds) left, so should finish within a day or so. |

The last game is nearly done, however Jernau appears to be likely to win a very close finish from gische. Either way, the tournament final is between Jernau, Djura, docaction and myself. Rebelslayer has let the Australian charge down this time, and missed the final.
I'll create the games as per the details listed earlier.

In a few days I'll open up the next batch of tournaments. They seem to have become quite popular here on SBW! |

It is only a week until Essen.
I would love to take part in another tournament, but will be away for a week for Essen (back Monday 22nd). I may be the only one, in which case I guess you'd better go on without me. On the other hand this may affect quite a few people here. |

Final completed.
No variant game (map 4)
I was allowed to build around the middle water unmolested, and the others paid the price, as I had a huge 20 point lead at the halfway mark. The second half saw two others outscore me but it was irrelevant in the end.
Kanga 171
Djura 153
docaction 152
Jernau 133
Variant 1 game (Map 117)
Jernau and docaction both seemed to forget this game had a halfway scoring round, and were caught with lots of tiles in their hand, and not much in the way of scoring moves. I led Djura 45 to 44, with the others at 36 and 33, well behind. The second half saw Djura run out of room to move and markets to touch first, so I pulled away for an easy win.
Kanga 145
Djura 126
Jernau 119
docaction 116
Variant 2 game map 112
Mid game I thought docaction was doing well. Then Djura was able to reach two late markets to jump clear. Partially out of desparation I bought blind land, and drew 3 pampases in quick succession, allowing me to connect two small land masses, harvest and get the last Hacienda and leapfrog past Djura for the victory.
Kanga 122
Djura 118
docaction 108
Jernau 101
Variant 1,2 game (map 145)
In 4 player each player ends up with a big herd each. docaction drew an amazing 12 pigs, matched late in the game by Djura's 12 cows. I only ended up with 8 horses, as did Jernau with sheep, but I picked up extra points with 4 sheep touching 3 markets in the midgame. The endgame was very close, with docaction and Djura having huge amounts of money. On the penultimate turn I went to buy the last horse, misclicked, bought a useless cow, and ended up losing the game because of it.
docaction 101
Kanga 98
Djura 86
Jernau 82
So, Kanga won the final with 3 victories! |
