When playing the basic game, the person who placed the first tile scores, then the person who placed the second tile, and so forth. In-person, this happens clockwise, so it progresses from right to left. Online, it happens from left to right.
When playing the auction game, final scoring is in order of current points, from least to greatest. . |
I was talking about basic game...the question was about FINAL scoring. Yes, whoever draws the volcano scores first, however, at the end of the game the LAST person to draw a tile is the LAST person to score. So the above description about the basic game isn't correct if it's refering to the FINAL scoring. |
There are 36 tiles, so yes, the above description is, in fact, correct regarding final scoring for the basic game.
In the 2 player game, there are 18 turns and the first player always scores first in the final round of scoring.
In the 3 player game, there are 12 turns, and the first player always scores first in the final round of scoring.
In the four player game, there are 9 turns, and the first player always scores first in the final round of scoring.
If the number of tiles was not divisible by 2, 3 and 4, your assumption would be correct. As it stands, in the basic game, the final round of scoring exactly mirrors the inital order of play.
Note that I never said anything about who draws a volcano -- we were talking about turn order as established at the beginning of the game.
