Spamming is a high-volume business (for lack of a better word...), so I don't think the spammers have time to actually read the site and figure out the workaround. On a relatively small site like this I don't think it would be worth their effort.
So basically I think it will be sufficient just to make sure a user has started a game before they post. |
We can certainly try this method and it does turn into a problem, then change it. |

Can you distinguish between someone who has joined a game, and someone who has made a legal move? I suspect that joining a game is easy enough for a spambot, but I could be wrong. |

I don't think anybody is going to be programming spambots to join games, but since Ryan says that the biggest problem with blocking these spam postings is that they are posted by real people, not bots, I think we could very well see them join one game, post their spam and disappear.
My vote is for "complete a game" as the posting requirement. The only downside I can foresee is a newbie joining a game and having some sort of problem with it, but being unable to post a question to the board. This could be handled by the in-game message board, though I'm not sure a newbie would recognize that.
(If I were paranoid, I'd worry about two spammers joining up, playing a quickie game with each other and then posting their spam, but I think that probably involves too much effort and time.) |

WOW --- it a very small world
hey wise guy --- I'm here in a hotel room in Columbus, Ohio reading this
message with your brother Walter (Eric) -- he says your going to send me
money for his half of the room

Wow! What a coincidence! I'm in a hotel room with your sister!
She said she wanted a quick Tikal.
Although it looks like being more of a Reef Encounter. |
dear nephew -- I thought you were old enough to travel on your own
without your mother being there to change your diaper
I guess I was wrong |

Hi Lads,
now - when can we expect some measures to be implemented? NC-17 stuff is offered, together with setup.exe's, here....

I have added more and more means to stop it, its a constant battle and one that never gets totally won. If you see a post about pics or pills or videos, don't click on it. That's the easiest solution. And, please don't post replies to the spam bots, that just makes it more difficult for me to moderate the post and get rid of it. _________________ ---------------

I don't see nothing wrong in posting what you want to post even if your posts are a little bit meaningless. |

In every other forum, there are spammers. Sick of watching them spamming the whole site |
