The other semifinals have finished!
The original game was played out as a pretty standard game with no suprises but a lot of building next to the other to squeeze them. Rebelslayer took a narrow first half lead and saw an opportunity late in the game to take the last 3 animals and force a win.

The V1 was likewise a build next to the other and cramp style. gische took a first half lead and could have won with 3 rounds to go by buying out the last 3 animals but missed it, and Rebelslayer got his land chain out to sneak a win.

The V2 looked close for most of the game, however Rebelslayer was holding a massive 6 pampas by the end of the first turn (started with 4 and collected 2 first round). There was lots of blocking and 2 well played water blocks, and a final blocking of a market by Rebelslayer with his pile of pampas sealed the game.

Thanks for the games gische!

Btw, congrats to Rebelslayer.
I've decided to rewrite the rules. The winner is the player who lost the least games in the leadup matches is the winner. Wow, Rebel lost a game to Tom, and I'm undefeated, so I guess I must be the winner!
Ok, that's not quite fair.

May the best man win (and may Rebel's boys cause him sleepless nights so he's more tired and makes more mistakes than I do!) |

LOL ... I propose that stargate doesn't get to play in the first round, and only gets to start the second IF he gets more than 50% of his predictions right! |

Hmm ... lets play quickly Kanga!
Grr ... trimming roses and the ONLY thorn to get through my glove goes on the side of my right index finger JUST where I click the mouse. I guess that will make me think even morecarefully about my clicks!
HF Kanga ... try not to become roadkill |

Made the mistake of letting Djura get on the computer, and then she remembered I had to go shopping..
I'm sure we'll get it done fairly quickly. |

Rebelslayer defeated Kanga 3-0, not particularly close in 2 of the 3 games.
Well played, a well deserved victory. |

Kanga definitely had a bad night! At the start of the night I thought I was in trouble in the original, had the V1 wrapped up, and had no idea what the V2 was going to do!
Original: Kanga took a 1pt lead into half way, and had better position but got distracted (probably by his kids) and collected water instead of market connections to fall short by 1 pt (254 - 253).
V1: Both of us went for different ends of the board. Kanga took a 1pt lead into half way but by then I had sealed off 2 markets from him. It ended up closer than I thought (189 - 171).
V2: Battle of the big land chain vs board position. Again I blocked off the chewed bit of bone from Kanga, and the final margin was helped by a late 2 pampas allowing me to join 2 small land chains and make some money for water. Not being able to get to the last 2 markets was the difference (125 - 102).
Great games and great tournament Kanga! |
