As of last night/early this morning, when you create a new Tikal game it will randomly assign colors. I also changed the round numbering scheme from one round = one player's turn to one round = once around the 'table.'

I wasn't sure how to handle the volcano rounds so here's what it is doing: When a volcano is drawn the round number goes up 1 regardless of who draws it or how many players have gone in the current round. Then the round number doesn't increase again until after all players have placed a tile.

So you'll have situations where only one or two players take a turn in a round, but that's only because they will take their turns AFTER the scoring round. Example (shown in the typical order of the gamelog):
