I am mulling the idea of making a variant tournament that includes the "traitor" mechanic found in some other games. For example, I would like a game where most people are collectively gunning for the largest single/collective score, but one (or more) people are secretly not.

The first question of course would be which type of game lends itself to that type of mechanic?

Amun Re: Overall score is heavily dependent on province reveal order. Perhaps it could be "smallest possible spread" vs "largest possible spread".

Bus: No luck, overall score can be aided or hurt (clock would probably be a higher commodity for both teams). The problem is that the game is not very popular

Hacienda: I dislike Hacienda, so no

Hoity: No score to speak of, a spread vs. no spread situation might work, but the game is so random that the traitor element might not be felt.

Reef: For collective score, traitors would try to 4 shrimp-n-out but that is blockable.

Tikal: traitors would reveal themselves too easily, no?

Anyhow, I'm just thinking aloud here, this wouldn't be starting for a while yet, I'm just trying to decide on a game/contradictory goals/format... and whether I have time.
