Could we get a new area of the forum for "newbie posts". IE those who haven't finished a game, and make the rest of the forum's unpostable until at least 1 game is finished.
That would stop almost all of the spam (it would be contained in one small area and the site admin would not need to spend further time limiting it).
It would allow newbies to know where to post for help. I for one would be happy to regularly check that forum and cover newbie questions.
Anyone else think this is a good idea? |

I'd also offer to check for non-spam posts. |

They're just throwaway addresses (eg yahoo, hotmail, etc). It really wouldn't make a difference. In fact the process of registering them and using them here is all probably automatic.
The only thing that requires human intervention is typing in the characters in those images with the lines through them and there are whole centres filled with people dedicated to doing just that. |

It's a great idea. How about adding a site for
players like me who have to play Rebelslayer, cpo95, flaviorj and Gaditus on a regular basis so we will have a some sympathetic shoulders to cry on.
But it is a really good idea. |

Personally the current method of public humiliation and scorn for newbie questions is quite entertaining. As far as spam, I learned quite a bit about Alabama several weekends ago and am better for it. _________________ Cry havoc, and slip the dogs of war! |

Sounds like a great idea.
Also, I'm sure many of us who are here regularly throughout the day would be happy to volunteer to remove the spam posts if the additional help is something you'd agree to. Every site needs a couple of mods with a hot delete button. |

You know, I thought this was already in place. Maybe I just remember the discussion. There was certainly a ban on some sort of posting until some number of games had been completed.
Or did I just dream it? |

the ban on posting only gets discussed -- many times
I think there is a ban on using BBCode until you have a minimum number of posts
as I type this the Alabama spam poster has become the Maryland spam poster (16 forum posts) |
