I've come to the conclusion that you need to glance at the official rules to get a grasp of this game. The rules (actually it's a quick reference guide) just aren't gonna cut it for first timers.

My group loves Santiago. We've played three games of it in the last couple weeks. It's clean, fast, and nasty. And it involves both spatial thinking and numerical estimation. |
