|
|
I really like the PBEM format and spielbyweb has done such a great job in implementation. So I have been considering other games that would be nice to see created here.
An ideal choice would be a game that 1) is great in its own right, 2) is a game of reasonable depth that provides room for analysis, 3) is heavily turn based so that your number of turns over the course of the game is relatively small and each turn can have a large impact on the game, 4) does not use negotiation as a means for player interaction, and of course 5) is relatively straightforward to implement (programatically, graphically, etc.).
My top choice at the moment is Hansa.
What do others think?

this suggestion breaks your 4th guidline, but i think Diplomacy would be a great addition. Every other PBM style online implementation is kinda.... lacking. |

My personal choice would be GOA! I think it's the perfect game for this type of play. |

Try www.dipbounced.com. The best online implementation that I have seen. _________________ Fair winds,

One of the 18-- series of Railway games would be good. Or Puerto Rico. |

Hansa is a personal favorite, so I like that one. Entdecker, too. Both of these have noninteractive turns, but kind of a lot of little ones. Good, but not as ideal as some other choices.
El Grande and the Ragnar Bros. Kings & Castles (or Vikings Fury) might be good. |

I think the biggest thing to consider is how many turns each player will have to take. If a game has one slow player that needs to respond to 40-50 turns, you may be in for a LONG game _________________ ---------------

Bridges of ShangriLa - fantastic game, pure strategy, absolutely no luck involved! It has a very easy rules set, there are only 3 things you can do each turn, so the coding would be (relatively) straight forward! |

It appears Caylus and El Grande are in development... I think Goa is an excellent suggestion. I'm a big Martin Wallace fan but those title might be a little too complicated... Liberte would be cool.
There are several popular Train/Destination games that could work...
Ticket to Ride, or Elfenland type stuff... |
