just curious, and it hasnt happened yet, but if u were in a position of playing on a person's team in a game knowing that if u won he/she would knock u out of a place in the finals, then what would the correct protocol be? still play to win the game or throw it on purpose to maintain your placing?
i know a similar points been raised in previous tournaments it just seems all the more apposite given the team situation _________________ +

Not sure how it could happen - you get exactly the same score as them - either a win or loss and same points lost by. |

That's two finalists. Well played HighwayStar, perfect record! Just as well I suppose as this tournament was originally your suggestion. |

With one game to go only the fourth spot in the final is to play for. As long as rseulow does not lose by more than 4 he will join HighwayStar, rorshaq and Pompkin in the final. |

Why aren't winning *teams* advancing? |

This is how I had envisaged it.
I am not sure how it could be arranged with teams progressing. It would probably be possible for the next round as there would be 10 games so HighwayStar wouldn't have to play himself, but after that it could be impossible to arrange. There is also the difficulty of having started with 20 games, which doesn't neatly come down to 2, in a knock out. |

rseulow and his partner will win the final game, so we now know the finalists.
The finals can now be started.
It’s a Team Game Final 1 HIGHWAYSTAR RORSHAQ pompkin rseulow
It’s a Team Game Final 2 HIGHWAYSTAR POMPKIN rorshaq rseulow
It’s a Team Game Final 3 HIGHWAYSTAR RSEULOW rorshaq pompkin
Players in CAPITALS are one team, those in lower case are the other.
If one player manages to win all three games he will be the champion. Otherwise the champion will be the player who does least badly with the player who loses all his games. (ie same scoring system as for the group stages)
Please use password final. Good luck. |

Just looks kinda wierd.
Next time, do it bracket style, like Tennis Doubles. Makes more sense.
You could even pair people up using your handicap system. |

I am not sure what you mean - if you have a fixed partner, or even just one game each round it would be possible to a knock-out type tournament, but my intention was for everyone to have a few different partners.
If anyone can come up with a better method do let me know. |

The finals are over and:
rseulow and rorshaq bt HighwayStar and Pompkin by 2
Pompkin and rseulow bt HighwayStar and rorshaq by 2
Pompkin and rorshaq bt HighwayStar and rseulow by 10.
Hence, joint champions are Pompkin and rorshaq.
If you enjoyed the tournament, then rseulow will be organising another - see here to sign up. |
